Tux Tales

Blaine and I both had the day off from work and decided to get a bunch of errands done. We headed down to China Town to order my wedding band. We are having it made by a goldsmith in China Town, because we heard that they often deal with gold in the softer karat range, same as my engagement ring. Also, his price came in almost $100 less than other mainstream jewellers for the same thing. We also like that he will resize my e-ring on the spot in his shop, while we wait. We never did like the idea of giving up my ring to be sent somewhere to be sized. Keeping my fingers crossed that China Town was a wise decision on our part.

Blaine looked around a few more jewellery stores, and came to the conclusion that his favorite ring is one we saw earlier this month at Troy Shoppe. We’ll order that ring a little later on.

Blaine also decided to check out tuxes today. Or should I say “a” tux. We went to one store, he tried one on, and voila…rented. I love what he chose, but just a little perplexed why he wouldn’t want to shop around a bit. Oh well, I guess that’s why we’re a good balance for each other. I would have gone to every tux shop in the city…twice…before making a decision. Hmm, that also must be why I have 2 different pairs of wedding shoes on hold at various stores around the city, and I bought 2 other pairs that I have to return sometime within the next 15 days!!

We also received a call from the Bay telling us a gift has arrived! We went to pick it up and the lady wrapped the items right in front of us…so much for the surprise!? Anyway, it’s all wrapped up with the gift card attached, but we’re not sure the ‘protocol’…do we send a thank you to the sender now, or wait until we technically open it after the wedding? I think we will just open everything after the wedding, but acknowledge to the sender that we did in fact receive it.

I also cleaned up the “wedding room”…need a place to put the gift ;)

Round 3 – Game 2 Post Game – Everingham vs Brown

Last night we surprised Nora and Sean by having a substitute for skip. We send in Dwane, Blaine’s twin brother (with out a beard) to call the shots.

He must have had a little bit more influence over the team and they all WANTED to make the shots he called. Nora’s first rock of the game scored the opening point for the Everingham rink! Sean was throwing takeout’s with rolls to right behind the a center guard! Alexis has drawing in like a Hearts tournament winner! Dwane, well we threw a rock off the broom but had calculated it to hit their top guard and then take out intended rock!

Steller job on the 7 -1 win guys!

I think you like Dwane better ;( I think I will keep sending him to the game until after the wedding!

P.S.
Dwane is actually Blaine.. Without the beard.

Round 3 – Pre-Game 2 – Everingham vs Brown

This evening we play the Brown rink. They are an extremely fun group to play and we have a really excellent chance of winning! Why? Simple they have yet to win a game this year. But, with that said, we did almost lose to them last time, we managed to win by a single point.

It’s seems like it’s been quite a while since we last hit the ice. With the blow out last game then last week not playing… Hopefully we all remember how to throw a rock down the ice with some consistency! If not.. Oh well ;)

Hurting Hand

My poor Mom slipped on some ice this morning and broke her right hand and two fingers :(
She was over at my Nana’s house helping her manage after having cataract surgery and was just walking down the driveway when black ice pulled her down. She called me from the South urgent Care centre where she had xrays etc.

She needs reconstructive surgery, and is in a cast right now. She is waiting for a surgery date, but it should be in the next day or two. Unfortunately, her job is one that requires pretty good dexterity, and she’s right handed. Though she tells me the first thing she thought of was “how am I going to knit?”

She says she is pretty comfotable, and only has pain when she tries to use her hand. Otherwise, thankfully she’s ok. It could have been her hip.

The Weekend Report

Well, Alexis as going to write about our weekend, but just has not had any time to do so. I guess that’s why I do 95% of the posting on this site and she does 95% posting on our wedding site.

Anyhow, this weekend we were quite busy. We went out for dinner with Matt and Stacy on Friday night to Applebees. After a brief fourty minute wait we were awarded with seats. I had their steak and with was de-e-e-e-e-licious. I this was quite suprising as last time we ate there it was crap. Alexis also has steak tips and they were just as good. I would give the steak about a 8 out of 10.

Saturday we drove around town going to different Jewellery stores. We were looking for wedding bands for both Alexis and I. Alexis was looking for a simple 2 mm 19k ring, and it seems that not very many people deal with this karrot of gold (its too soft). We did find it in a couple of places though and got some quotes. Expensive jewellery store 650, same ring China town 150. Were choosing the China town ring, plus they can re-size her current ring there on the spot.

I was a little less lucky. It seems as though there is not a great deal of variation from one store to another regarding mens rings. We checked out a few stores and really have not found anything that grabs me too much. I did find one that was nice and is probably made the short list.

Saturday night we went to Angies 30th birthday party. She had rented a hall and invited everyone she know. There were well over a hundred people there it was
a really fun time. Drinks, dance, and all the friends I knew showed up. Alexis and I both felt like crap in the morning.. Maybe a little tooo much of a good time ;)

In the afternoon we went over to her parents place. She went out shopping which Les and I worked on my truck (Need to replace the exhaust). After four hours we had cut two bolts off… Then we stopped. Alexis and her mom returned from shoe shopping and were just as unsuccessful as us.

Duck, Duck, HOUSE!

Well, our friends Trevor and Amy have been searching for a house for awhile. Today they finally decided to throw in an offer (which was accepted) and bought a lovely townhouse.

It looks awesome! We’ll be sorry to see them leave our neighborhood…
